Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026
Beacon is a hyperlocal app for broadcasting live, expiring activities to people near you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over your data.
Information we collect
- Account details: your email address (managed by our authentication provider, Clerk), your display name, username, and an optional profile photo.
- Approximate location: with your permission, we use your device location to show beacons within your chosen radius and to place a beacon you create. You can change your radius at any time.
- Content you create: beacons, group-chat messages, reactions, "interested" marks, join requests, and host ratings.
- Basic usage data needed to operate the service, such as when you were last active.
How we use your information
We use your information to run Beacon: to show nearby activity, connect you with hosts and other attendees, display your profile and reputation, and keep the service safe and reliable.
How your information is shared
Your display name, username, profile photo, beacons, and ratings are visible to other users as part of using the app. We do not sell your personal information. We rely on trusted service providers (such as our authentication and hosting providers) solely to operate Beacon.
Data retention and deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This removes your profile, beacons, messages, reactions, and ratings, and deletes your login identity. Some records may be retained briefly where required to operate the service or comply with the law.
Children
Beacon is not intended for children under 13, and you must meet the minimum age required in your country to use the app.
